Is Auto-Tune for Guitar a software plug-in?
No. Auto-Tune for Guitar is a powerful hardware DSP system that is designed to be installed in a guitar and provide real-time processing while the guitar is played live on stage or in the studio. The Auto-Tune for Guitar DSP system provides six independent instances of Auto-Tune pitch detection and manipulation, one for each of the guitar's six strings.
Is there any way to update the features or functionality of an Auto-Tune for Guitar equipped guitar?
Absolutely. Auto-Tune for Guitar equipped guitars include a MIDI input that allows the guitar's firmware to be updated via standard MIDI sysex files.
Okay, say I upgrade my guitar to add new functions. How would I access those functions?
The Auto-Tune for Guitar MIDI interface allows control of all Auto-Tune for Guitar functions via standard MIDI continuous controller messages. So all of the functions (including functions added via a software upgrade) can be accessed by MIDI foot controllers, dedicated MIDI control surfaces, and MIDI control apps running on devices like iPhones and iPads.
If my guitar's in tune, why do I need Solid-Tune Intonation?
Solid-Tune Intonation greatly improves the tone of any guitar. The physical limitations of the guitar, a bad set-up, pressing too hard on strings, difficult chord fingerings and capos all can reveal intonation problems inherent in even expensive electric guitars. Even a guitar that is setup properly will reveal its intonation limitations on some chords and positions on the neck.
